Nereus Director of Science William Cheung attended the Scoping Meeting for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways as an invited expert.
The meeting, which took place from August 15 to 18 in Geneva, Switzerland, was convened with the purpose of drafting a Scoping Paper describing the objectives, as well as an outline, of the Special Report on the impacts of climate change over 1.5 degrees Celsius. This report, which the IPCC hopes to have completed by 2018, is part of an overall effort to limit the increase in global average temperatures to significantly below 2°C above pre-industrial levels.
