The objective of this consultation is to ensure that the design of the new Hidden Harvest study (HH2), which revisits and updates the 2012 World Bank, FAO and Worldfish HIDDEN HARVEST: The Global Contribution of Capture Fisheries, is appropriate and methodologically sound, with an emphasis on cross-cutting issues of equity in small–scale fisheries. The consultation will focus on reviewing and finalizing a draft design paper for a peer-review journal, identify approaches to conduct the global HH2 study, and explore opportunities for collaboration with participants to conduct the HH2 study.
This workshop is organized through a collaboration between Duke University, WorldFish, FAO and the Nippon Foundation Nereus Program Ocean Workshop initiative, which seeks to promote applied and innovative collaboration between Nereus partners and other institutes. We together believe in the importance of the implementation of FAO Voluntary Guidelines for Securing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Context of Food Security and Poverty Eradication in order to support those coastal communities that maintain their stewardship to the oceans, inland waters and related ecosystems while securing and developing their livelihoods.
