Marine Policy‘s special edition on ‘Funding for ocean conservation and sustainable fisheries’ aims to address funding for ocean conservation and sustainable fisheries from various angles. Interested parties should submit abstracts (~250 words) describing their intended research topic or question and how it relates to the special theme no later than November 30, 2017.
Nereus Program Fellow Richard Caddell attended the “Natural Marine Resource Management in a Changing Climate” Workshop between June 12 to 13, 2017 at the University of Tromsø in Norway. Discussion at the workshop addressed how regulations might evolve in response to shifting fish stocks due to ocean warming and acidification.
Fisheries Economics Research Unit (UBC) Research Associate Louise Teh, Nereus Director of Science William Cheung, and OceanCanada Director and Nereus Research Associate (Honourary) Rashid Sumaila recently had a paper (“Scenarios for investigating the future of Canada’s oceans and marine fisheries under environmental and socioeconomic change“) published in Regional Environmental Change, wherein they review existing methods of scenario analysis (preparing for future response based on multiple potential outcomes) in the marine conservation and fisheries sectors in Canada.
Nereus Director (Policy) Yoshitaka Ota will organize a workshop on marine conservation principles on August 31st in Hawaii, United States.
