Senior Nereus Research Fellow Daniel Dunn (Duke) will act as organizer at the ‘Developing robust criteria for the Global Ocean Refuge System (GLORES)’ Focus Group, following the International Marine Conservation Congress, on August 4th, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
The Global Ocean Refuge System “is a science based initiative designed to catalyze strong protection for 30% of the ecosystems in each marine biogeographic region of the world’s oceans by 2030”, allowing for a “strategic way to safeguard marine ecosystems”. The workshop will “provide marine conservation biologists the opportunity to help shape a conservation strategy based on their science and research”.
